The World’s First Screenless Laptop Using AR Glasses

Tech startup Sightful has introduced a groundbreaking innovation in the world of spatial computing with the launch of Spacetop G1, the world’s first screenless laptop. While Apple’s Vision Pro headset has been a prominent player in this space, Sightful’s Spacetop G1 takes a unique approach by eliminating the traditional laptop screen and using AR glasses instead.

Typical headsets like the Vision Pro can be bulky and uncomfortable for extended wear. Sightful addresses this issue by integrating custom-made AR glasses from Xreal with their screenless laptop. When wearing these glasses, users experience a virtual 100-inch (2,540 mm) display, making it ideal for the “work from anywhere” lifestyle. The Spacetop is equipped with advanced AI technology and runs on Sightful’s proprietary operating system, SpaceOS.

“We developed Spacetop to liberate people from the limitations of physical screens,” said Sightful CEO Tamir Berliner. “We believe AR glasses are the future, as they overcome the challenges of bulky headsets, limited battery life, and processing power, allowing for seamless daily use in an AR environment.”

After an invite-only early access phase, Sightful refined Spacetop based on user feedback, enhancing both its hardware and software. The final version boasts an 8-hour battery life and a processing chip that is 70% faster.

Interested buyers can reserve the Spacetop G1, priced at $1,900, on Sightful’s website. The first batch is set to ship in October 2024.
