Lahore Implements Ban on Street Sales of Qurbani Animals for Eidul Adha

The Punjab Home Department has announced a major decision to improve public safety and order during the upcoming Eidul Adha celebrations. Starting immediately, selling Qurbani animals on Lahore’s roads and streets is strictly prohibited.

This regulation, enforced under Section 144, aims to streamline the sale of sacrificial animals and prevent the typical chaos on the city’s streets during this festive season.

Section 144 prohibits the sale and purchase of Qurbani animals outside designated cattle markets. This rule will be in effect until June 20, covering the preparation period for Eidul Adha.

This decision, prompted by the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, highlights the need to maintain law and order during this busy time.

To meet community needs while following the new regulations, eight designated cattle markets have been established across Lahore. These markets are strategically located to ensure convenience and public order. The designated markets exempt from Section 144 are situated at:

  • Shahpur Kanjra
  • LDA City Defence Road
  • Burki Road Paragon
  • Saggian Road
  • Sports Complex Addarakh
  • NFC Multan Road
  • Raiwind Sundar Road
  • New King Lane

These venues will be the only authorized locations for buying and selling sacrificial animals, ensuring that the activities of Eidul Adha do not disrupt traffic flow or public safety.
