The Meteorological Department has announced the eagerly awaited arrival of Karachi’s first monsoon rain, scheduled for June 29. This news comes as a welcome relief for residents grappling with intense heat in recent weeks.

Monsoon winds are set to approach Karachi from both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea starting June 26. A low-pressure system originating in Gujarat, India, is poised to move towards Pakistan, bringing much-needed rainfall to the region.

According to a spokesperson from the department, light to moderate rain is anticipated on June 29, promising significant respite from the ongoing heatwave that has impacted daily life in the city.

Karachi has been experiencing extreme temperatures, with highs reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius and humidity levels making conditions particularly uncomfortable. However, the Met Department forecasts a gradual decrease in temperature starting tomorrow, with sea breezes expected to resume by Wednesday evening.
