Afghanistan’s top-order batter, Ihsanullah Janat, has been banned from all cricket activities for five years after breaching the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and ICC Anti-Corruption Codes during the second season of the Kabul Premier League (KPL).
Janat violated Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which addresses attempts to improperly influence or fix the result, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of a match. Following this serious offense, he has admitted to the charges and acknowledged his involvement in corrupt practices.
The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the ACB is also investigating three other players suspected of participating in match-fixing. Further actions will be determined based on the findings of these investigations.
Janat’s five-year ban is effective immediately, starting from the release of this statement by the Afghanistan Cricket Board. The suspension prohibits him from participating in any cricket-related activities until the ban period ends.
Janat has represented Afghanistan in three Test matches, 16 ODIs, and one T20I match, with his last international appearance on June 14, 2022, against Zimbabwe.
